Day 1- We had some great performances on day 1 of Winter Nationals. Jude swam an assertive 100m Butterfly, his first Short-Course national event swimming 1:00.2. Will made the junior final in the 50m Freestyle finishing 4th in a PB of 22.81. In the MC 100m Breaststroke he swam a fantastic race in his weakest stroke, producing a 3sec PB finishing winning the Silver in a 1:07.1. Day 2- Grace had a great day, handling the occasion and producing a string of great swims. Starting of by matching her PB in the 200m IM early this morning and then swimming two big PB’s in the 100m Freestyle (58.5) and 200m Backstroke (2:16.6) In the 100m Freestyle, Nathan swimming in his first Nationals, Nathan produced his 2nd fastest time. Charlie also swam his 2nd fastest time, in the 50m Breaststroke, his first event of the weekend. Showing promise for his main events to come. Jack swam a good 200m Butterfly finishing in 2:05, just outside the final places. Will & Jordan made the MC 100m Freestyle final. Both boys improved on their heat times to win Gold and Silver. Will went sub-50 for the first time to drop to a PB of 49.8 which is a new S14 British Record time. Jordan is returning to his best after time out of the pool, finishing in a 52.5, right near his best. Shortly after this final Will took to the pool in the 200m IM, swimming another PB and S14 British Record of 2:08.2 winning Gold. Excitingly with lots of room for improvement. Day 3 - What a fantastic day! Grace only had 20 minutes between her two swims today. That didn’t get in the way of Grace producing Two amazing swims! First up was the 100m IM where she swam a PB of 1:07.3 which is nearly 1 second faster than her best. After composing herself she had the swim of her life in the 200m Freestyle, dropping nearly 4 seconds off her best to finish in 2:04.84, narrowly outside the 17 & under final. Charlie swam a great back end 100m Breaststroke finishing in a PB of 1:07.7, also nearly 1 second under his previous best. This is very exciting with Charlie’s favourite distance, the 200m is tomorrow! With only 10 entered, Jordan and Will had a straight final in the MC 200m Freestyle. Jordan swam a seasons best of 1:55.6 to finish in the Silver medal position. Will backed up his busy Day 2 with another small PB and British Record of 1:52.2 to win Gold! Tonight Will made it 4 Golds with another British Record in the MC 100m Butterfly finishing in 56.32. Knocking nearly a second off his previous best time. Day 4 - What a final day in Sheffield! First up, Grace finished her first Winter Nationals with a final PB and 14 year old girls club record 100m Backstroke, finishing in 1:04.44. Charlie swam a strong 200m Breaststroke, just outside his best in 2:28. In the finals session, Jordan and Will went head-to-head once again in the MC 100m backstroke. Both swam PB’s in the final, Jordan breaking the English S14 record in 58.5 and Will 58.6 for Gold and Silver.
